Second season in Ooty - Forest Minister inaugurates flower decoration works in Ooty Botanical Garden

Forest Minister K Ramachandran inaugurated the setting up of decorations with around 4 lakh flower of 70 varieties of flowering plants for the second season at the Government Botanical Garden in Ooty.



The Nilgiris: Forest Minister K Ramachandran on Monday inaugurated a programme to set up decorations with flower pots for the second season at the Government Botanical Garden in Ooty.

At the Government Botanical Garden, Ooty, the work of decorating the park is in progress ahead of the 2nd season of this year.

For this purpose, flower beds were set up in all parts of the park with about 4 lakh saplings of different types of flowering plants.

At present, all these flowering plants have bloomed and are a treat to the eyes of the tourists.

In a bid to attract tourism, 70 varieties of flowering plants for the second season have been procured from other states like Kolkata, Kashmir, Punjab, Pune, etc.

More than 10,000 flower pots, including Dahlia, Salvia, Incamary Gold, Frenchmarie Gold, Piconia, Daisy, Calantula, Dianthus, Chrysanthemum, Aster, Primula, Balsam, Ajiratum, Cycloman, Tuberspiconia and Geranium are on display.

In order to create awareness about the transformation of The Nilgiris district into a district of organic farming, slogans have been designed and displayed in 2000 flower pots at the flower showground.

Further, in order to make the Nilgiris plastic-free district. In order to create awareness, the perani illam lawn grounds have displayed to the tourists through flower pots with the slogans of using turmeric bags instead of plastic.

Forest Minister K Ramachandran attended the inauguration ceremony of the decoration work today and inaugurated the works.

District Collector Amrit, Joint Director of Horticulture Sibila Mary and other officials were present on the occasion.

It is to be noted that the flower show will be opened for tourists for a month from today.
