Four members of SDPI and PFI arrested in connection with petrol bomb hurled on shops on 100 Feet Road and Variety Hall Road.

The police arrested Abdul Rahman (30), a member of the SDPI, Mohammad Rafiq for allegedly hurling a molotov cocktail at a shop owned by BJP functionary Mohan on 100 Feet Road, Mujibur Rahman (26), a PFI activist from Thudiyalur, and Shahjahan (41), a member of the SDPI, a resident of Anbu Nagar in Ukkadam.


Coimbatore: Four persons belonging to the SDPI and PFI have been arrested in connection with the petrol and kerosene bomb bottles kept in Coimbatore and breaking the windshields of a bus.

On the night of May 22, kerosene bombs were hurled at three locations in Coimbatore – a shop owned by BJP leader Mohan on 100 Feet Road of the BJP district office and a textile shop named Maruti Selection on Oppanakara Road.

In this situation, three special squads were formed to investigate the case of throwing kerosene bomb on a textile shop on Oppanakara Street. The police arrested Abdul Rahman (30), a member of the SDPI, a resident of Chintamani Nagar in Sungam.

Mohammad Rafiq has also been arrested for allegedly hurling a bomb at a shop owned by BJP functionary Mohan on 100 Feet Road. Mujibur Rahman (26), a PFI activist from Thudiyalur, has also been arrested in connection with the case.

Similarly, the police have also arrested Shahjahan (41), a member of the SDPI, a resident of Anbu Nagar in Ukkadam, in connection with the stone-pelting attack on a government bus no. 21A on NH Road in Coimbatore and breaking the glass panes. The two-wheeler he was using was also seized.

The coimbatore city police produced the four in court and later sent them to jail.
