Special police arrest 3 more activists belonging to SDPI and banned PFI in Pollachi car vandalism case

While 3 people had already been arrested in the incident of pelting stones on the car of executives belonging to Hindu organizations in Pollachi, based on their confession and examination of the surveillance camera footage, Abdul Jalil (34) from Kerala who is the Secretary of the Valparai assembly constituency and from SDPI, and active grassroots activists of the banned PFI Mohammad Rafeeq (31) and Abdul Rahman (24) from Pollachi have also been arrested and lodged in jail.


Coimbatore: While 3 people had already been arrested in the incident of pelting stones on the car of executives belonging to Hindu organizations in Pollachi, based on their confession and examination of the surveillance camera footage, Abdul Jalil (34) from Kerala who is the Secretary of the Valparai assembly constituency and from SDPI, and active grassroots activists of the banned PFI Mohammad Rafeeq (31) and Abdul Rahman (24) from Pollachi have also been arrested and lodged in jail.

In connection with the vandalism of 2 four-wheelers, 2 autos and a Tata Ace Vana parked in front of the houses of the administrators of Hindu organizations in Pollachi Kumaran Nagar, Coimbatore on September 22, five cases have been registered at Pollachi West Police Station under the sections of the law like damage to public property and handling of explosives.

In order to quickly arrest the persons involved in this case, the West Zone Police Chief Sudhakar ordered for seven Special Force teams to be formed under the supervision of the Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police, V Badrinarayanan, Pollachi Deputy Superintendent of Police, Deepa Sujitha and Deputy Superintendent of Police, Selvaraj. Extensive vehicle searches, phone numbers of more than 500 individuals, continuous surveillance and questioning of suspects and 250 surveillance camera footage were examined. Based on the investigation, the police arrested Mohammad Rafiq (26), Rameez Raja (36) and Malik alias Sadiq Basha (32) from Pollachi on September 26 and lodged them in jail.

Also, on the basis of the confession by the arrested persons and on the examination of the surveillance camera footage, Abdul Jalil (34) from Kerala who is the Secretary of the Valparai assembly constituency belonging to the SDPI party and currently living in Pollachi, and active grassroots activists of the banned Popular Front of India (PFI) Mohammad Rafeeq (31) and Abdul Rahman (24) from Pollachi have also been arrested and lodged in jail.
