College Assistant Professor's husband dies in tragic accident near Vadakovai in Coimbatore

Anand (47), a resident of Bharathi Park 2nd Street of Saibaba Colony in Coimbatore was trying to cross the road near Vadakovai when he was hit by a two-wheeler. Anand who fell on the road was then overrun by a lorry.


Coimbatore: A 47-year old man was knocked down by a two-wheeler and was then tragically overrun by a lorry while trying to cross the Vadakovai-Mettupalayam Road on Wednesday.

The man has been identified as Anand, the husband of Jai Shree, an Assistant Professor at the Women's University on Mettupalayam Road. Anand lived with his wife Jai Shree on the 2nd Street of Saibaba Colony, Bharathi Park in Coimbatore.

On Wednesday morning, Anand (47) visited his wife at the college where she works and while returning was knocked down by a two-wheeler when he was trying to cross the road near Vadakoval. He was then overrun by a lorry, which left him seriously injured. Passers-by immediately rushed him to a private hospital nearby for treatment but doctors who examined him at the hospital declared him brought dead.

Jai Shree filed a complaint with the Coimbatore West Traffic Investigation Police against the rider from TVS Nagar who was on a police vehicle and had knocked down her husband on the road. The case has been registered against the rider who has been identified as Madan (25), Kavundampalayam and lorry driver Mohan (24) from the city. Police investigation is underway.
