Woman steals newborn baby at Coimbatore govt. hospital - caught red-handed

A woman named Arogya Mary, who was trying to abduct a newborn boy at government hospital in Coimbatore, was caught red-handed by the hospital guards and handed over to the police.

Coimbatore: In a shocking incident, a woman who tried to steal a baby boy from a government hospital in Coimbatore was caught by the staff and handed over to the police.

A woman from Annur was admitted to the labour ward of Coimbatore government hospital for delivery and gave birth to a baby boy three days ago.

Yesterday afternoon, when the woman went out, leaving the baby lying in the cradle, a woman who came there suddenly picked up the newborn boy and tried to rush out.

On seeing this, the guards stopped the woman and when questioned, the woman said that the doctor had asked her to pick up the baby and left.

Meanwhile, the child's mother, who had gone out, was shocked and screamed as there was no child in the cradle when she returned. She also told the medical staff there that her baby was missing.

On receiving this, alert guards immediately rushed to the spot and launched a massive search operation and nabbed the woman who was carrying the newborn. They then rescued the newborn and handed it over to the mother and handed over the woman to the Race Course Road police station.

The woman has been identified as Arogyamary (32), a native of Udayampalayam in Coimbatore. A case has been registered against a woman for stealing the newborn from a government hospital and the police are investigating.

Recently, the police arrested a Kerala woman for kidnapping a newborn in Pollachi.
