Traffic Diversion Alert: Bjp to hold protest in Coimbatore's Tatabad area this evening; heavy police security

Coimbatore BJP district president's arrest and a series of incidents of petrol bomb throwing in the last few days has triggered a spate of protests today. With the protest in Sivananda Colony area, the entire area is being searched by bomb squads. Traffic will be affected until 9 pm due to this.



Coimbatore: Heavy police security has been put in place in Tatabad area of Coimbatore, where a BJP protest is being held, and traffic has been diverted.

Accordingly, the public will not be able to use the road from Sivananda Colony Power House Junction to Sapthagiri Bakery on 100 Feet Road on either side from 12 noon to 9 pm today.



Coimbatore district BJP President Balaji Uthamaramasamy has been arrested and lodged in coimbatore central jail for making threatening remarks against A Raja at a Hindu Munnani meeting. An additional case has also been registered against him under the Atrocities against SC/ST Act.



It was announced that the BJP will hold a protest at Sivananda Colony today to protest against the arrest of the Coimbatore BJP district president and the serial incidents of fuel attacks in Tamil Nadu. Volunteers from various parts of Tamil Nadu, including BJP and Sangh Parivar outfits, will participate in the protest.



Following this, heavy police security has been put in place in the Sivananda Colony area where the protest is being held. Intensive checking is being carried out throughout the protest site with the help of sniffer dogs and bomb squads.

BJP state president Annamalai, women's wing national president Vanathi Srinivasan and other key functionaries of the party will participate in the protest.



Due to the large number of people from outside the districts coming to participate, traffic will be diverted from this afternoon till 21.00 pm in Shivananda Colony, Tatabad, 100 Feet Road as detailed below.

Traffic change

The public will not be able to use the road from Shivananda Colony Power House junction to Sapthagiri Bakery on 100 feet road on either side.

Motorists coming from Mettupalayam Road via ARC can reach Sivananda Colony via Tank Road, take a left turn on Dr. Radhakrishnan Road, reach 6 Mukku Road and reach Tatabad 5th and 6th Streets to reach 100 Feet Road.

Vehicles coming down from Vadakovai flyover and going to Sivananda Colony can reach Arumugam road via EB Office Power House Junction, Dr. Alagappachetty Road, turn left and reach Shivananda Colony via HUDCO Road.

Vehicles going from 100 Feet Road to Shivananda Colony can reach 100 Feet Road 11' Cross and take a right turn near Bharat Electronics and then take a left turn through Tatabad 7th Street to reach Arumugam Road and reach Shivananda Colony.

Similarly, vehicles coming from Tatabad Extension, 3rd and 4th Streets can come through Dr Radhakrishnan Road and reach Shivananda Colony.
