Mother and daughter die in tragic electrocution incident in city's Thudiyalur area

The tragic accident happened in their house in Meenakshi Garden area near GN Mills in Thudiyalur in Coimbatore. When the girl was electrocuted during her bath, the mother met with the same end in a bid to save her daughter's life.


Coimbatore: Krithika (52) and her daughter Archana (18) who was a first-year Biotech student at a private college in Coimbatore died tragically in an electrocution incident at their home in Meenakshi Garden area near GN Mills, Thudiyalur in Coimbatore. Krithika is survived by her husband Anand who works as a Junior Assistant in the RTO office, in Trichy.

The tragic accident occurred at their home on Wednesday morning when Archana was unexpectedly electrocuted by a water-heater during her bath before setting out to college. Her mother, Krithika who went into the bathroom after hearing Archana's screams tried to save her daughter and was also electrocuted. Both died tragically in the bathroom. The college bus driver who routinely picks up Archana was waiting for a long time near their house, and since no one came out of the house, the driver got suspicious and went inside the house.

On finding both Krithika and Archana's bodies electrocuted, the college bus driver informed the police who rushed to the house to recover the corpses which were sent to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for post-mortem.

A case has been registered and investigation is underway. The tragic deaths of both mother and daughter due to electrocution shocked the neighbourhood and left the family devastated.
