Indian Gaur enters Vilankurichi, Saravanampatti area of Coimbatore at midnight

A video has been released in which an Indian Gaur, which came through Vilankurichi and roamed around in Vinayagapuram area, crossed the road, and started running helter skelter without knowing where to go in the noise of vehicles.



Coimbatore: It has been a common practice for wild animals like Indian Gaur, elephant, spotted deer and leopard to enter the village in the areas adjoining the Western Ghats in Coimbatore. The unusual entry of an Indian Gaur into Saravanampatti area has shocked the people of the area.



A video has been released in which Indian Gaur, which came through Vilankurichi and roamed around in Vinayagapuram area, crossed the road, and started running helter skelter without knowing where to go in the noise of vehicles. Later, terrified by the chasing people, the Gaur entered a petrol pump.



The Gaur escaped from there and entered into the residential area. The Gaur climbed on to the terrace of a house and walked into the middle of the cloth drying bars. The people of the place there threw a rope around it to catch it.



Based on the information given about the Gaur which came through Vilankurichi and roamed around in Vinayagapuram area, corporation north zone president V. Kathirvel and forest officials rushed to the spot.



Finally, at Murugan Nagar in Saravanampatti area, zonal president, forest guard Senthil along with the public, caught the stray Indian Gaur safely at 3 a.m. 

Later, the captured Gaur was taken in a vehicle and released into the forest, the forest department said. According to the forest department, the Indian Gaur may have come out of the area under Periyanayakanpalayam forest range.

Speaking about this, the people of the area said, "It is new to find a Gaur within our area. The Gaur, which had gone astray, may have come here via Vilankurichi.”
