Coimbatore Dist. Collector issues stern warning to fraudsters duping public by posing as journalists

The Collector stated that petitions had been received at Public Grievances Day meeting from public who have been cheated of money by fraudsters and that a case will be registered against such fraudsters by the police.


Coimbatore: Coimbatore District Collector, G S Sameeran has warned that strict action will be taken against those indulging in fraudulent activities to dupe public of money by using fake journalist identity cards.

A statement issued by the Coimbatore District Collector said, "A few persons calling themselves journalists have been duping the public saying that they know higher officials and can fulfill their petitions in return for money. We have received petitions at the Public Grievances Day meeting alleging that the public are being cheated of money. Not only will strict action be taken against such fraudsters but a case will be registered by the police.

Moreover, a few persons posing as journalists in front of the District Collectorate and all Taluk offices were using fake identity cards to deceive the public. If those persons are found to be involved in frauds, appropriate action will be taken against them."

Officers in the Government service who receive petitions from such fraudsters have been instructed to immediately inform the District Collector. Also, if victims of such frauds send messages immediately with appropriate proof to the WhatsApp number 9498042423, the District Collector assured that appropriate action will be taken against such fraudsters.
