'Coimbatore Corporation's constant sealing of micro-enterprises is crushing the industry:' TACT petitions Dist. Collector

TACT argued that these companies have been operating in the same place for 20 to 30 years after inspection by the Pollution Control Board.

Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Association of Handicrafts and Small Entrepreneurs (TACT) met the Coimbatore District Collector, G S Sameeran on Wednesday and submitted a petition.

In their petition, the TACT members mentioned that the Corporation administration had sealed and shut down two micro-enterprises which were operating for the last 20 years in TVS Nagar on Thadagam Road, and this action of the Corporation administration not only shocked entrepreneurs but was also crushing the industry.

TACT Coimbatore District President James alleged that the Corporation administration had suddenly arrived at the two companies with a notice and vacated them after a complaint was made by a person about half a km away from the companies. "Furthermore, all the machines in these companies have been evacuated and sealed. As a result, the workers who were working there are losing their jobs and the entrepreneurs who were running these companies are also struggling," he added.

"When those companies have been operating in the same place for 20 to 30 years, how can the Corporation administration seal these companies based on someone's complaint. Moreover, even though the Pollution Control Board itself has inspected and given permission, this act of sealing by the Municipal administration is crushing the small-scale industry. This has caused a great upheaval among the entrepreneurs.

Therefore, the Tamil Nadu Government industry ministers and administrators should conduct an immediate inquiry into this action of the Corporation and save these industries. The Collector should take action to continue the functioning of the micro-enterprises in Coimbatore district," reiterated TACT Coimbatore District President, James.
