CPI cadres stage road blockades in 12 places in Tirupur condemning Central Govt. policies

CPI cadres protested against the Centre's economic policy, the Electricity Act Amendment Bill, the failure to control the rise in yarn prices which allegedly has weakened the hosiery industry.

Tirupur: As per the decision arrived at the recently-held State Conference of the Communist Party of India (CPI) in Tirupur, CPI cadres staged pickets across the State on Tuesday, condemning the policies of the Central Government.

At the recently-held Conference of the Communist Party of India in Tirupur, it was pointed out that people and industries have been severely affected by the wrong economic policy of the Central Government.

Similarly, the Tirupur knitwear industry blamed the Central Government's Electricity Act Amendment Bill and the increase in yarn prices for the weakening of the knitwear industry. Condemning these policies of the Central Government, a resolution was passed at the conference that a State-wide protest would be held on August 30.

Hence, the Communist Party of India (CPI) cadres staged road blockades at 12 places in Tirupur city, including Pudur Pirivu and Kamarajar Salai. Corporation Deputy Mayor MKM Balasubrahmanyam participated in the picketing on Kamarajar Salai. The protesters raised slogans against the Central Government and expressed their opposition to the Centre's policies.
