IT companies are showing keen interest to open offices in Coimbatore - State IT Minister Mano Thangaraj in Coimbatore

State Minister for Information Technology Mano Thangaraj, on Thursday inaugurated the final rounds of the "Smart Indian Hackathon" at a private college in Malumichampatti here.


Coimbatore: State Minister for Information Technology, Mano Thangaraj inaugurated the final rounds of the "Smart Indian Hackathon" at a private college in Malumichampatti here, in Thursday. About 20 teams and 210 participants representing various states have are part of this hackathon.



Briefing the media later, he said the steps have been taken to conduct various competitions to increase the skill level of students, and the promotion of e-governance in all sectors has been augmented to enable the easy reach of all government services to the general public.

The e-governance would help streamline the distribution of welfare measures based on data science and stop the benefit from reaching ineligible beneficiaries.. The government is also striving to make Tamil Nadu as a hub for technology development and e-governance the minister said and added new start-ups and inventions would be encouraged in Tamilnadu.



While noting that the Dravida Model government is aimed at achieving development in rural areas on par with the urban areas, he said 1,500 villages would be given optic fibre internet connectivity soon for which works are underway.,

The minister said that he would inspect the ELCOT building works which are nearing completion in CoimbatoreWhile lauding that the Coimbatore region has emerged as a centre of industry, he said the IT sector is fast growing in the region and start-up culture has gained roots.



More IT companies and multi national companies like Amazon are showing keen interest in opening offices in Coimbatore which would eventually boost the economy and employment opportunities in the region, the IT Minister added.

The minister also noted that the growth of the Coimbatore region is a top priority for the government and added that the district is making vast strides in education, industry, and infrastructure development. It is the bounden duty of the state to encourage such a developing region.
