Police on lookout for youth who sexually harassed minor girl at construction site in Coimbatore

The Coimbatore All Women Police Inspector Deivamani investigated the matter and registered a case against the construction worker under the POCSO Act for raping the six-year-old girl at a construction site in Kovaipudur.


Coimbatore: Coimbatore City Police are on the lookout for a youth who raped a 6-year-old girl who was staying with her mother at a construction site in Kovaipudur, in Coimbatore.

More than 200 houses are being built in a private residential area in Kovaipudur. Construction workers from different districts, both male and female work and reside at the same construction site. A 27-year-old youth who is also a construction worker has been talking to a 6-year-old girl whose mother works and stays in the same area.

It is reported that when the girl's mother was not present, the construction worker raped the six-year-old girl and fled from the scene after the rape when he saw her physical condition. The minor girl told her mother who immediately lodged a complaint at the women's police station.

The Coimbatore All Women Police Inspector Deivamani investigated the matter and registered a case against the construction worker under the POCSO Act. The police have set up a special team and are on a hunt for the youth who has gone into hiding.
