Uthukuli farmers fear gang stealing goats at night

The value of the stolen goats is said to be Rs. 40,000. It is reported that there has been an increase in the number of mysterious stealing of goats reared in the area.


Tirupur: Mani, a farmer had set up a pen near his house in Thottipalayam village of Thalavaipattinam near Uthukuli in Tirupur district for rearing around 30 goats. After letting the goats graze, he always locked them up in the evening inside the pen and then went home.



At around 9 pm on Monday, three unidentified persons with their faces covered approached the pen and after scouting around and ensuring no one was nearby, one of them entered the pen and stole four goats and three kids.



When Mani arrived on Tuesday morning at the pen to take the goats out to graze, he was shocked to see that there were less goats than usual. Later, Mani found the entire goat-stealing incident on CCTV footage. Following this, he lodged a complaint with the Uthukuli police station about the animal theft and police are investigating.
