Valparai MLA Amul Kandasamy leads protest in Valparai highlighting estate workers' salary issues and labour tax deduction

Coimbatore: Valparai MLA Amul Kandasamy led a protest at the Gandhi Statue Bus Stand in Valparai highlighting salary issues and labour tax deduction for Valparai estate workers in Coimbatore district.

Amul Kandasamy demanded payment of daily wages of Rs.425.40 per day announced by the Government to the tea garden workers. He also urged the Estates Management to permanently abolish the industrial tax deducted from the accounts of plantation workers and hand it over to the Government.



He condemned the unions for reducing the daily wage of Rs.425.40 to Rs.395 and urged them to immediately return the subscription amount of Rs.600 and Rs.750 deducted from the workers' accounts to them immediately.



"Regularise all temporary workers without any conditions and plantation companies must repair the damaged workers' quarters immediately. Provide clean drinking water facilities," reiterated Valparai MLA Amul Kandasamy.

AIADMK cadres and the trade unions MLF, INTUC, CITU, HMS, PMS, trade unions and AIADMK office bearers like City Secretary Mayil Ganesan, Pon Ganesan, Shanmugavel, IT Wing, Shanmugam, Sudar Baalu, SKS Baalu, Mohan, Soundaraj, Gurumurthy and workers from the estates participated in the protest.
