In the petition submitted to the Collector, it is noted, that various Hindu organizations have organized the sanctifying of Vinayagar idols on different days, at different times and places, which may cause a lot of inconvenience to the general public, road users. and in particular to students and workers commuting to their destinations.

The petitioners further added that during the Visarjana processions, safety is often thrown to the winds, as overcrowded tempos are used to transport the Vinayagar idols, which may cause accidents.

More often than not, harmful chemicals are extensively used to make Vinayagar idols across the city, and such violations should be checked by the concerned authorities. The environmentally polluting idols should be replaced and in lieu of eco-friendly idols made across the city, the DVK in their petition.
