Pollachi Photo Video Artists Association hold peace rally on occasion of 183rd World Photography Day

The Association demanded that the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister should take steps to set up a separate Welfare Board for them which has been a long-standing demand of photographers for many years.

Coimbatore: On the occasion of the 183rd World Photography Day, the Pollachi Photo Video Artists Association held a peace rally demanding for a separate welfare board among various other demands.

The rally which kick-started at the Pollachi Municipal Office culminated at the Sub-Collector's office, passing through major roads including the Central Bus Stand and Market Road.

Subsequently, a free eye camp was conducted in a private marriage hall and welfare assistance was provided to Government students.

A large number of people attended the event.

The Pollachi Photo Video Artists Association opined, "The role of photographers is important in all places, including at Government welfare schemes and festivals. We are risking our lives in the Assembly and Parliamentary elections. But photographers do not get any of the Government's benefits. Contracts are awarded to corporate entities but have to be instead provided directly to the Photographers' Associations. The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister should take steps to set up a separate Welfare Board which has been a demand of photographers for many years," they added.
