Coimbatore Collector takes part in Gram Sabha meeting at Kittampalayam

District Collector GS Sameeran participated in the Gram Sabha meeting held at Kittampalayam village panchayat of Sulur town, here today. He assured that various special resolutions passed at the meeting would be considered and fulfilled in a phased manner.

Gram Sabha meetings are being held across all panchayats in the district today, as part of the Independence Day celebrations. Discussions on various development activities, finished projects, awareness on government welfare schemes and grievances among others are the major things discussed in the meet.

During the Gram Sabha meeting, the village panchayat President presented the expenditure list for the period of April 1, 2022 to July 31,2022 and sought the approval of the gram panchayat. Dengue control measures, creation of water harvesting structures and eviction of encroachments from water bodies were discussed during the meeting in which over 500 villagers took part.

Centrally sponsored schemes such as Prathan Mantri Awaz Yojana, Prathan mantri Jeevan Jothi Bheema Yojana, Ilaginar Thiran Tiruvizha and poverty eradication programmes were discussed and its benefits were announced during the meeting.

The villagers were also informed on how to remit money through e-services to the panchayat. Adding of names under the below poverty line beneficiaries also came in for discussion.



The District Collector while speaking said that it is heartening to know that the village panchayat has honoured freedom fighters during this independence day celebrations. He assured that various special resolutions passed at the meeting would be considered and fulfilled in a phased manner.

The Collector also received petitions from the villagers seeking free house pattas and other government welfare measures.

Panchayat President VM Chandrasekar, ward members, revenue officials took part in the meeting.
