MLA Vanathi Srinivasan leads Vande Matram Yatra in Coimbatore

Over 500 BJP cadres took part in the rally which commenced from Sivananda colony and passed through 100 feet road and culminated at the BJP office at Siddhapudur. Children dressed as freedom fighters roller skated and formed the vanguard of the rally.


Coimbatore: In view of the 75th Independence day, District BJP members organised "Vande Mataram Yatra" was heldin Coimbatore. National President of BJP Women's Wing and South Conatituency legislator Vanathi Srinivasan led the rally which commenced at Sivananda Colony, here on Saturday.



Over 500 BJP cadres took part in the rally which commenced from Sivananda colony and passed through 100 feet road and culminated at the BJP office at Siddhpur.

Children dressed as freedom fighterVeerpandia Katta Bomman, Netaji and Bharathiyar roller skated and formed the vanguard of the rally. Slogans including "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" and" Vande Mataram' were raised.

Later briefing the media persons, Vanathi Srinivasan saidthe 75th Independence day celebrations are being celebrated with patriotic fervour across the nation. The tricolour has been hoisted in all the houses and this gesture is meant to honor the flag and the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the country's cause.



She said that the Vande Matram Yatra is organised by the BJP all over the nation and various state governments are distributingthe national flag to the public for this milestone celebrations.

While condemning the flying of national flag in the party flag mast as was done by certain certain parties, Vanathi Srinivasan, said that utmost respect should be meted out to the national flag as per the flag code. The incidents should not recur in future as the national flag is sacrosanct. She noted thatBJP cadres would collect the flag after 6 pm tomorrow to prevent any callous disposal.



While parrying a question on the ugly incident in which a foot wear was thrown at the car of State Finance Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, she said "The BJP doesn't believe in violence and denigrating any one. But those who indulge in it could only expect such a reaction taking place. And, one must earn respect."
