Historian Dr. Kuduvayil Balasubramaniam receives Lifetime Achievement Award at the Coimbatore Book Festival 2022

Kudavayil Balasubramaniam holds a master's degree in history, and he earned a doctorate in temple arts. His research and creative abilities won him a Master’s degree in 2011 from Thanjavur Shastra University.


Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Book Festival is currently underway in a grand manner in Coimbatore. Hundreds of book stalls have delighted the public of Coimbatore who have shown an eagerness to read more books. One of the highlights during the event is that writers of eminence have been felicitated everyday.

Yesterday, renowned writer Jeya Mohan delivered the felicitation address while Thirugyanam, Chairperson of Codissia, welcomed the gathering.

In 2016, the Coimbatore Book Festival started recognizing important writers by giving them the Lifetime Achievement Award. This award will be presented to writers who have made significant contributions to society and the art of writing with a cash price of Rs. 1,50,000. These awards were previously received by Balakumaran, Jeya Mohan, S. Ramakrishnan, and Vanna Nilavan.

Kudavayil Balasubramaniam holds a Master's degree in history, and he earned a doctorate in temple arts. His research and creative abilities won him a master’s degree in 2011 from Thanjavur Shastra University. Bala Subramanian has written more than 50 books and more than 500 articles and has received many prizes and awards. He traced the history of Tamil Nadu through academic research studies and revealed it to the world through his excellent writings.

“I feel very happy and proud. It is a very happy and proud moment for me to escort the two legendary writers to the Coimbatore Book Festival as the representative of the people of Coimbatore”, said District Collector G.S. Sameeran. He also congratulated the team of CBF 2022.

Inaugurating the event, Jeya Mohan talked about the history of Tamil Nadu literature. Kuduvayil contributed to the microhistory of Tamil Nadu temples. Construction details, the festivals, and the community of Tamil Nadu have been traced by Him. He also stated that in today's generation, Bala Subramaniam's Tharasuram, aagamangal, and Thanjai Periya Kovil books are considered one of the finest collections and contributions to Tamil Nadu history.



Kuduvayil Balasubramaniam expressed his heartfelt thanks to the jury members for this award and stated that his contributions to the temple history of Tamil Nadu will continue. This event was organized by the team of Codissia, Bapasi and Coimbatore Public administration.



At the award ceremony, District Collector G.S.Sameeran, Vijay Anand, Chairperson of the Coimbatore Book Festival; Thirugyanam, Chairperson of Codissia; and D. Balasubramaniam, along with members Subramaniam and Muthaiyaah from Elakiya Koodal, were present at the award ceremony.
