Coimbatore : The RHCL Season 2, a cricket league tournament conducted by the Rotary Club of Coimbatore Heritage was successfully held for the second consecutive year on January 5 and 6 at the Hindustan College grounds, Nava India.
Coimbatore : The RHCL Season 2, a cricket league tournament conducted by the Rotary Club of Coimbatore Heritage was successfully held for the second consecutive year on January 5 and 6 at the Hindustan College grounds, Nava India.
The first season held at the same venue during November 2017 was a grand success. The tournament is held for teams from corporates, industries, social clubs, private companies and NGOs.
The Rotary organisation which comprises of 12 lakh members worldwide, strongly believes in bringing a transformation in the lives of the poor, and seeks to do so with honesty and dignity. The RHCL tournament was started to raise funds for social causes like providing clean drinking water, basic sanitation facilities and health care in government schools, alongside empowering women in under-privileged communities.
About 16 teams from various organisations from both Coimbatore and Tirupur districts participated in the cricket matches. Steps Sourcing team won the finals with a prize money of Rs.75,000. The runner-up was Ozlooms which won a cash prize of Rs.50,000, with the third place going to Eastman Exports which won a cash prize of Rs.20,000. The team from the Sunday Cricket Academy was placed fourth bagging Rs.15,000 as prize money.
Anand of Sunday Cricket Academy was awarded as the best batsmen of the tournament. The best bowler of the tournament was Arun from Ozlooms. Sasi of Sunday Cricket Academy was awarded the best all-rounder of the tournament. The man of the match was awarded to Pratap of Steps Sourcing. The prizes were distributed by the District Governor Nominee Designate S Rajasekhar. Members of Rotary Heritage, GGR Krishnakumari and Thyagarajan were also present at the event.
The official sponsors for the event were SS Marbles along with Beauty Works, Purple Bay, AVA Associates, Jayachandra Bearings, Eagle KTM Bikes and Crossfields water purifiers.
