Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Dr. K. Vijayakarthikeyan announced that meat, pork, beef, goat and chicken, strictly must not be sold on Thiruvalluvar Day which falls on 15 January. He has also announced that the animal slaughter houses in various parts of the city must remain closed on this day. Corporation Commissioner warned that strict action will be taken against those persons who sell any form of meat on this day.
