Govt. Arts College students host protest to release ban on Jallikattu


A section of students of the Coimbatore Governments Arts College today blocked the roads to protest against the removal of Pongal from the list of official national holidays. The students also protested seeking permission to conduct Jallikattu.

The protestors stated that the central government has removed Pongal from the official holiday list to divert the attention of the people of Tamil Nadu from the Jallikattu issue. The students demanded that Pongal should be added to the list of officials holidays list and efforts should be made to allow Jallikattu happen.

The Police pacified the students after which the protest was called off.
