Kalki Subramaniam to speak at the Harvard!


It's indeed a revolutionary moment to cherish for the people belonging to the transgender community as for the very first time a transgender from India has been invited by the Harvard University to deliver guest lecture at 'India Conference 2017'.

'India Conference 2017' - is the largest and most prestigious student-led conference in the United States focusing on India. The conference is scheduled to be hosted in Massachusetts at Harvard University on February 11-12, 2017. Close to 1000 attendees comprising of students and professors would be witnessing the session.

The conference will include a special panel discussion on the challenges faced by the transgender community in India and the road ahead. Representing the  Transgender community spirited activist and an artist, Kalki Subramaniam will deliver special lecture at this conference.

Jointly organized by students at the Harvard Kennedy School and the Harvard Business School with active contribution from students across the Harvard community., the theme of this year’s conference is “India – The Global Growth Engine” reflecting the presented by India’s rapid growth in the last decades and the challenges it must overcome in various areas to truly capitalize on the country’s tremendous potential.

Undeniably, this invite from the prestigious Harvard University to Kalki would instill hope and courage in the minds of the transgenders. As her presence will
throw light on the hardships of India’s transgender community.

The prestigious India Conference has a strong legacy of creating a platform that facilitates discussions among political leaders, social impact and thought leaders, policymakers, business leaders and experts on key issues in the context of India’s complexity. In the past, Mr. Shashi Tharoor, Ms. Chanda Kocchar, Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad, Ms. Nirupama Rao, Mr. Karan Johar, and Mr. Kamal Hassan had delivered lectures at this session.
