KPR Mills Limited hosts its 5th Graduation Day


KPR Mills Limited hosted its 5th Graduation Day at the auditorium at its Arasur mill campus. Degree certificate was conferred on 204 graduates and these are no ordinary graduates and post graduates, they are the employees of the KPR Mills, who opted to learn while they earn.

A majority of them being women, they have received their UG and PG degrees under the Tamil Nadu Open University. Of them, seven students secured three university ranks. It was a reunion of sorts as the mill workers of the various KPR units of Sathyamangalam, Neelambur, Anasur, Thekkalur and Arasur gathered under one roof, to formally be pronounced graduates and post graduates.



With a participation of more than 2,000 students and their parents, the auditorium was packed to its capacity. Dr. M Bhaskaran, Vice Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Open University was the chief guest for the graduation day. In his graduation day message he emphasized on the importance of reading in this contemporary era. “If we want roses we must plant and grow them. If we want knowledgeable people we must read. Leaders are readers and readers become leaders.



On this auspicious day we must pay our gratitude to our parents especially our mother who has a major role to play in our life. Gratitude is the mother of all virtues and remember your parents till the end of your life. Children are the biggest assets for their parents. Today, you have proved this.”

K P Ramasamy, Chairman, KPR Mills Limited in his address emphasized on the importance of time management. A Kalimurthy, Retd. Superintend of Police, Trichy in his address conveyed the importance of hand-picking quality information in this era of information overload and discarding information that is irrelevant to us. Andal Priyadarsini, Indian Broadcasting Services, Head of Doordarshan Kendras, Coimbatore and Madurai motivated the audience to learn to overcome the challenges that life throws at us. V R Muthu, CEO, Idhayam Group of Companies,Virudhunagar also addressed the gathering.



So far 16113 employees of the KPR Mills have successfully completed their education. And, during this academic year, the KPR Mills will create over 3600 graduates and post graduates.
