Awareness camp about blood donation hosted by Annai Karangal Udhiram Foundation

In order to sensitise the public especially the youth on the importance of blood donation, Annai Karangal Udhiram Foundation hosted an awareness camp. This camp was hosted on Guru Pooja day, 1 January, at the Ramakrishna Mision Vidhyalaya in Periyanaickenpalayam in Coimbatore.

Around 8,000 visitors attended this event and visited the stall, of which, 1,500 participants volunteered to donate blood as and when required, a majority of being females. The organizers of this awareness drive are happy that they could reach out the importance of blood donation to the public.

For several of the visitors, this awareness drive on blood donation was an eye-opener as it solved many myths about blood donation. A flex board educating the visitors on the importance of blood donation was also placed at this venue.

As a part of an awareness drive to encourage more people to come ahead and donate blood, the organizers of this event have plans of hosting a marathon. This run, we are told is scheduled to be hosted on 5 February this year. Several school children and college goers have already enrolled their names and will participate in this awareness marathon.
