Co-optex invites applications for its awareness tour

With the aim of creating necessary awareness among its customers about the process of hand- weaving, Co-optex is organizing awareness tours in various clusters that are famous for hand-weaving. Such tours, we are told are targeting the youngsters in a bid to create the necessary awareness about handlooms and also to educate them about the various processes that are involved in hand-weaving.

One such tour is scheduled to be hosted in Coimbatore on 21 January. Participants will be taken to Sirumugai which is home to close to 2,000 handlooms and is famous for its soft silk saris and also to Vadambacherry which has more than 1,000 handlooms and is well known for its organic cotton saris. As a part of this tour participants will be taken to two clusters and to the Co-optex showroom in Coimbatore.

Participation in this tour is by prior registration and as a part of the tour all participants will get an opportunity to interact with the weavers and they will also be allowed to purchase apparels from the weavers who are affiliated to the Coimbatore society. We are told that Co-optex purchases products that are sold in their showrooms from the weavers.

Those who are interested in registering for this tour can contact Co-optex at 97919-90213.
