District administration begins installing global positioning system in flying squad vehicles

As per the order of the Election Commission of India (ECI), the district administration has started installing GPS (Global Positioning System) tracking systems in 30 vehicles belonging to the flying squads.

Subsequently, the tracking system will also be fixed in the vehicles of returning officers, assistant returning officers and static surveillance teams.

The purpose of this effort is to easily track movement of vehicles from the election control room at the district collectorate and dispatch squads immediately when the situation calls for it. According to sources, the district has 30 flying squads, 30 static surveillance teams and 10 video surveillance teams.

"We started installing the GPS tracking system for the 30 flying squad vehicles on Monday. Later, the system will be fixed on the vehicles of static surveillance teams and video surveillance teams," said a senior officer.
