'Loud rallies will distract students, hit preparations'

An election year is always difficult for students, what with the aggressive campaigning by political parties, including their loud rallies, sometimes even on exam days.

With the polling dates announced, political parties will start campaigning any time now, and parents, students and schools fear this may affect exam preparations.

The Class 12 CBSE and Tamil Nadu state board examinations have begun and will go on till April 22 and 15, respectively.

"How students do in their Class 12 exam plays a huge role in getting college admissions. Parties are bound to start campaigning any time soon, which will surely distract students," said R Visalakshi, president, Tamil Nadu Private Schools Association. The last election, however, was quite peaceful and did not create much of a hassle for students, she mentioned.
