Demonetised currency seized from DMK functionary's residence in Coimbatore

Coimbatore: In a raid jointly held by the Central Intelligence unit of Tamil Nadu and Vadavalli Police on Sunday night at the residence of former DMK MLA G Elango's son Anand, 268 bundles of banned denomination of Rs 1,000 and RS. 500 were seized.



Coimbatore: In a raid jointly held by the Central Intelligence unit of Tamil Nadu and Vadavalli Police on Sunday night at the residence of former DMK MLA G Elango's son Anand, 268 bundles of banned denomination of Rs 1,000 and RS. 500 were seized. 

Based on a tip off, that banned currency was kept at a property owned by Anand in Lakshmi Nagar in Vadavalli, Coimbatore, and that the tenants Sheik and Rasheed were involved in exchange of the notes. A team led by DSP Velmurugan on Sunday raided the bungalow and confirmed the crime. They seized demonetised currency notes both RS. 500 and RS. 1000. However, both Sheik and Rasheed escaped from the spot. 

A case has been filed by the Vadavali Police and are investigating. An inquiry is also underway with DMK functionary Anand who is the son of Former DMK MLA Elango.
