Coimbatore: A 29-year-old woman gave a new lease of life to nine people after her vital organs were transplanted at KMCH hospital here on Wednesday.
Coimbatore: A 29-year-old woman gave a new lease of life to nine people after her vital organs were transplanted at KMCH hospital here on Wednesday.
A few days back, P.Nandhini (29).from Nanjai Thamarai Kulam, Avinashi, Tirupur District was rushed to KMCH hospital after she met with a tragic accident. Despite critical treatment, as she did not respond to the treatment, the woman was declared brain dead, a release said.
Following which, her husband Maheshkumar and relatives came forward to donate her organs to the needy.
A team of surgeons harvested the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, eyes, skin and bone of Nandhini. While two kidneys were transplanted to a patient at KMCH, the liver, eyes, skin and bones were sent to a private Hospital in Coimbatore and the heart and lungs were sent to a private Hospital in Chennai.
The donated organs reportedly has given new lease of lives to nine needy people. The timely and thoughtful decision made by their family was appreciated by the hospital management.
