Tirupur: The Tirupur police on Saturday arrested four Hindu Munnani functionaries for attacking a textile factory during the Vinayagar Visarjan.

According to police, a private textile factory belonging to a Suresh at Angeripalayam Road was attacked by Hindu Munnani men on Thursday. 

Sources claimed that the factory was targeted for denying to give donations to  Visarjan and procession held in Tirupur.

More than twenty men forcefully entered the knitwear factory, broke the windows and also attacked the factory staff seriously injuring four of them.

Based on a complaint filed by Suresh, Tirupur police picked up 20 men and were interrogating them. On Saturday, they detained four men and booked them. 

While further investigation is still on, members of opposition parties have called for a protest on Monday condemning the attack.
