Karunya University launches city campus near Puliyakulam

Coimbatore: Karunya University has launched its city campus near Puliyakulam on February 18. This campus will offer MBA, BBA, B Com, BCA, BSc (IT), BSc (viscom) and part-time B Tech and M Tech courses.

Students will have the choice of studying courses in shifts like forenoon and afternoon. Admissions will be open from this academic year (2016-17). Further, the campus has a library, laboratory and wi-fi facilities.

Sports meet inaugurated at TNAU: The 16{+t}{+h} All India Inter Agricultural Universities Sports and Games Meet 2015-16 was inaugurated at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) on February 21. Chief commissioner of income tax, K Ramalingam, vice-chancellor of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Science University, S Thilagar, and inspector general of police, M Ravi were the chief guests for the event.

The Olympic torch was lit by the university vice-chancellor, M Ramasamy, while K Ramalingam declared the sports meet open by releasing white pigeons and helium-inflated balloons. Also, a postal stamp commemorating the sports meet was launched by the senior superintendent, Coimbatore post office, Alex George.

Self-help groups participate in college bazaar: In an effort to provide opportunities for self-help groups (SHG), the women empowerment cell of Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science on February 8 organised a college bazaar at the college campus. Around 40 SHGs from various parts of the state participated in the programme. The college principal, S Savithiri and the project director of Magalir Thittam, Ramesh inaugurated the bazaar.

Programme on bartending conducted: The department of hotel management and catering science of CMS College of Science and Commerce organised a programme on bartending on February 5 at the college premises. Professional bartender, Satish demonstrated the preparation of around 40 mock tails. He also showed the students a demo on bar flaring and juggling.
