Third phase of PWF poll campaign begins tomorrow

The third phase of election campaign by leaders of the People’s Welfare Front (PWF) will begin on Saturday and Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) leader Vaiko, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader Thirumavalavan, Communist Party of India – Marxist (CPI-M) State Unit secretary G. Ramakrishnan and Communist Party of India (CPI) State Unit secretary R. Mutharasan will take part.

Former Coimbatore MP of CPI-M P.R. Natarajan, along with the leaders of the district unit of the constituent parties, told reporters that the third phase will cover Coimbatore, Pollachi, Palladam and Tirupur.

Places

Leaders would address the people on VKK Menon Road in the city at 10 a.m., at Thiruvalluvar Thidal in Pollachi at 2 p.m., at Palladam and Tirupur at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively.

In addition to the issues pointed out in the Common Minimum Programme, the PWF would also focus on Athikadavu - Avinashi groundwater recharge scheme, GAIL pipeline issue, power loom owners’ problems, and MSME sector that was ignored in the budget. PWF would also highlight the Rs. 2,378-crore schemes announced by the Chief Minister during the Mayoral by-poll for Coimbatore which still remains on paper.

PWF will expose the double standards of both the Dravidian majors, especially the AIADMK, for according environment clearance for the GAIL pipelines in 2011 and then backtracking on seeing the protests by the farming community.
