The region has recorded 20 kmph of wind speed consistently from last week, whereas last year the highest recorded was only 17.6 kmph. The wind speed is expected to go slightly higher during the course of time, he added. Validating his point, today the city has recorded a wind speed of 24 -25 kmph.
The current wind direction and speed will aid to yield maximum power generation through windmills, he added. People are advised to stay away from sheltering and parking vehicles under the trees, as breakage of branches or trees might lead to casualties. He has also advised the banana farmers to take precautionary measures to avoid losses due to strong wind patterns.
