Outfit to urge Kalam's advisor to enter politics

Youth Federation for Change, a newly formed city-based youth organization, has announced that they will be approaching scientific advisor to former president A P J Abdul Kalam, V Ponraj, on February 26 to invite him to enter politics. They hope to convince him to stand as chief ministerial candidate in the forthcoming election.

The organization, which conducted a press meet at the city press club on Wednesday, announced that 20,000 members would approaching V Ponraj on Friday, next week. Though the organization was reportedly initiated by a group of youngsters in 2013, they announced their official launch on Wednesday. "We are a group of youngsters who want to make an educated entry into politics to bring about a change in society," said Samuel Churchill, the coordinator of the organization.

"Whenever we find fault with politicians, they challenge us to step into their shoes. Unfortunately most youngsters do not consider politics a career, but we are trying to change that," he said.

Ponraj has also reportedly agreed to train 234 members of their organization to contest in all the 234 constituencies. "We slowly connected with the scientific advisor by meeting him every time he came to Tamil Nadu to give a speech or for an event in Coimbatore, Madurai, Trichy and Chennai," said Churchill. "We also invited him to train people in our organization interested in entering politics," he added.

The organization reportedly already has 5 lakh members from social organization organizations across the state. "We have now become an umbrella organization for all the social organisations across the state," he said.
