The members of Dravida Kazhagam today staged a protest at the South RTO office, Coimbatore against the Central HRD ministry's policy for mandatory incorporation of Sanskrit at all central government educational institutions. The ministry has also planned to host a Vedic Port at all regions to enable learning of sanskrit and Vedas.
The ministry of HRD has also demanded that all schools of Kendriya Vidyalaya should withdraw German language which is been imparted to students as a third language. The agitators recorded their protest on HRD ministry's intervention on Kendriya Vidyalaya schools curriculum. They strongly condemned that promoting sanskrit will lead to communal injustice in the nation.
Kazhagam protesters also evoked that Sushma Swaraj, Minister of External Affairs had allocated Rs.270 Crores of fund to the UNO for announcing Hindi as the official language of India across the world. The protesters demanded that all the 22 languages that are spoken across India should also get similar status and preference rather than just promoting Hindi.
