50 Protestors of Periyar Dravida Kazhagam detained

A couple of hours ago, the members of the Periyar Dravida Kazhagham staged a protest at the Forest Office, Mettupalayam road.

The protestors advocated that the Man-Animal feud is rapidly ascending, as the animal corridors at most places around the western ghats have been illegally encroached by private organisations to establish educational institutions, resorts & farmlands and for spiritual purposes. They adjured that the government has to take expeditious measures to seize the lands from the encroachers and ensure peaceful living habitats for the wild animals.

50 of them were arrested as they have not procured permissions for the protest.
