His Speech

Cottalango Leon, in his acceptance speech said, ‘It is a great privilege to be here after so many years. I have never in my wildest imagination thought I would be here and address the students. I have lot of memories here on both studies and life. I went through government schools and there was a cultural change when I joined the college. I am very fortunate to have excellent professors. In school I like science, maths and physics but not chemistry. But here the professors taught me chemistry in such a way I started loving chemistry.’

He also said, ‘I wanted to share few things here, when I joined Sony Pictures there was lot of revolution happening in the area of computer graphics. I have been always attracted to arts and science which pushed me towards this field. I did a masters degree at Arizona University specialized in computer graphics. At Sony Pictures we do animated movies, we create from a script to everything in a movie. The project I got awarded is for science and technology that has made impact in the movie making. The tool is used only by Sony Pictures. When we started there was no proper work flow or project management, so we started developing little advancements in there which led to make the work flow easy.

I also have a few words for the students. Wherever I go now people ask me what lead me to achieve this award. They are hard work that I learned from my parents at a very young age; they taugh me how to stay positive and to view everything as a stepping stone. Always have an open mind for everything. I am happy that this award is not only about me but also about sending a positive message to today’s youth, I am happy to stand here to reach out to the students in a positive way. I certainly hope that I have inspired a few to overcome their own difficult situations and march on with their dreams.

Mr. R.S. Krishnaswamy, President, PSG Tech Alumni Association, Dr. R. Rudramoorthy, Principal, PSG College of Technology, Dr.B.Giriraj, Principal, PSG Polytechnic College, Dr. A.V.Varadharajan, Chairman, Sandfits Foundries Pvt Ltd., Coimbatore felicitated Cottalango Leon with an award.
