EVKS Elangovan steps down from leadership of TN Congress

Tamil Nadu Congress president EVKS Elangovan had submitted his resignation to the Congress high command last week, sources say.

The congress party contested the 2016 state elections in alliance with DMK and were allotted 40 seats. The results turned out to be very devastating for the party as they could see victory only in 8 places. The party's poor performance at the elections under his leadership, is the reason speculated behind his quitting decision. However, other contradicting reasons leading to his resignation are also been strolling around.

On the other hand, the party members are eagerly waiting for the Congress high command to announce their new leader.
