Mohanraj, a 13 year old boy from Mettupalayam died today due to a snake bite. Mohanraj had come out of the house to relieve himself in the morning. But later his parents found him lying unconscious. The parents, relatives and neighbors rushed Mohanraj to the government hospital but the doctors declared him dead on arrival.
According to the parents and relatives of the deceased boy, the area where they reside has a lot of trees and bushes. Various other incidents of snake bite too have been reported. They had petitioned to the officials to the residential area of these bushes but no actions were apparently initiated on their petitions.
Today nearly 50 people gathered in front of Collectorate and staged protest and blamed the administration for their negligence. As their repeated request for clearing up the bushes in the residential area and providing basic amenities like electricity and drinking water were not heard and as a part of the protest they refused to take the body of Mohanraj from the government hospital and demanded strict action against the administration.
