No Changes in Ticketing Rules from July 1: Railways

New Delhi: Railways today said no changes are being made to rules regarding booking and cancellation of wait-listed and Tatkal tickets from July 1 as has been reported on some social media platforms.

It had been noticed that a news item was in circulation on various social media platforms, WhatsApp groups and some websites mentioning that several changes and new facilities were being introduced with effect from July 1, the Railways said.

"This news is totally incorrect and baseless. A section of media has also published the news without verifying it from authorised sources of the Indian Railway system and it has created confusion among the minds of the people," it said in a release.

There is no proposal to discontinue paper tickets for Shatabdi and Rajdhani trains and for that matter in any class of train. However, for passengers booking tickets online, the tickets received by SMS is a valid authority for travel along with permissible proof of identity, it said.

There was no change in the refund rules notified in November, 2015, the release added.

Railways will introduce its new time table in the month of October.
