Citizen Connect initiative launched as part of Smart City project

The Coimbatore Corporation has launched a Citizen Connect Initiative under the Smart City Mission. The Civic body launched the initiative on Saturday in it’s main office in the presence of activists and civil society representatives.

The main mission behind this initiative is to take the Smart cities message and engage the citizens by asking them to contribute ideas for the project.

Initially, the aim was to start the initiative by June 25, after a week-long awareness drive. But there would be a change in schedule and the new plan would be announced soon, said the Corporation sources.

The Corporation had planned to conduct programmes for a cross-section of society - students, women and children, engineers and architects - to invite their suggestions for improving the city and re-designing a few pockets that, they think, were important, the sources said.
