On Thursday MDMK representatives staged protest at the District Chief Educational Office demanding to implement a single window system for admissions at Private Schools, under RTE act.
Mr Easwaran, State Students Wing Secretary stated that they had submitted a report last year to the Education Minister, Secretary for school education, director of matriculation schools, Chief Education Officer, and the district administration reporting the irregularities in the enrollment procedure by Private Schools and no action was taken. The protests will continue until the Government initiates an order to regularise the enrolment procedure and thereby aid students from poor families to benefit under the RTE act.
They also alleged that schools have been collecting fee both from the parents and the government. They insisted that a proper background check on the family financial status should be enforced so that students from affordable families do not misuse the RTE act.
Last year, 280 students were enrolled in 6 private schools under the RTE act. This year the figures have gone up considerably, 2645 students have got admitted in 233 schools private schools.
