A few hours ago, Members of the Student Federation of India gathered at the Chief Educational Officer's office for filing a petition seeking action against private schools for levying inappropriate fees for education.
They alleged that the private schools are exorbitantly charging fees and it creates huge implications on people from lower income group. The petitioners put forth that 25% of the seats in private schools should be allotted to students from poor financial backgrounds, as per the Right to Education act.
Further, they insisted in their petition to form a special committee for bettering and monitoring fees structures at private schools. The members of the student federation also reported incidents where the government school staffs are encouraging the toppers of their schools to join private schools.
They accused a few schools in particular amongst them were National Model School, GRG Matriculation School, Alvernia Matriculation school and PSBB Millennium.
