Indefinite Strike of I-T staff from July 11

A country-wide strike has been called by the Income Tax department staff from July 11 to show their protest for the negative and retrograde points mentioned in the 7th pay commission to be effective from 2017. The strike has been called under the banner of National Joint Council of Action (NJCA) and Income Tax Gazetted Officers Association.

The officials have submitted an 11 point charter of demands to the government. Few of the demands of the officials are as follows

  1. They want to change 11 things in the 7th pay commission to be effective from 2017.
  2. They want the privatisation and outsourcing of government jobs to be stopped completely.
  3. They do not want any amendment of labour laws.
  4. They want all the vacant posts to be filled  and the ban on creation of regular post should be lifted.

The vice president J. Rajkumar of Income Tax Gazetted Officers Association said that issues raised by NJCA will be sent to cabinet secretary on December 10th.
