Scare of big cat in Mathampalayam village

Thangavel a 52-year-old farmer of Mathamaplayam village near Periyanaikampalyam as a daily routine left his goats for grazing near the foothills on Saturday afternoon. Much to his dismay just after a short period few of his goats came running with stains of blood and wounds. Shocked Thangavel went running to the foothills and saw the remaining five goats lying dead with bite marks of an unidentified animal.

He immediately informed Mr.Karthikeyan, forest official who checked the wounds and the pug marks but could not confirm it to of a leopard as leopard movement was an uncommon issue here. But villagers doubt that the big cat had come from Kattanji range in western ghats. As earlier a similar incident was reported. The forest officials are looking into the issue and as preventive measure villagers have been warned to stay away from the forest.
