Government school accused of charging money for teaching

Government Schools are supposed to provide free education but here it's a different case as the parents who can't afford to pay the fees for their wards are asked to contribute money for paying the salary for the teachers.

When the students from Government School Anaikatti moved to Government School Thadagam they were asked to pay a fee of Rs.1,105/- which will be like Rs.200 for computer fee, Rs.50 for Parent Teachers Association fees, Rs.5 as flag fees and Rs.850/- for paying salary for teachers who were appointed to teach accounts and commerce by Parents Teachers Association.

This was informed by the parents of students from the tribal family in a recent grievances meeting held at Collectorate office Anaikatti. The tribals have requested the District Collector to resolve this issue and provide free education as they can't pay money and have asked to upgrade Anaikatti School into Higher Secondary School.
