Avinashi Flyover may Remain 2 Lane Flyover

With reference to the proposal submitted by State Highways department to Central Government for widening the Avinashi road flyover, the chances of getting the permission are very uncertain.

The Avinashi Road flyover which is the main flyover presently has 2 lane road was proposed to be widened to 3 lanes with an increase in the motorable space. The Avinashi Road flyover is a part Dindigul - Sathyamangalam road. And the Central Government has planned to widen this road so only patch works and maintenance of this flyover will be done. But, the Central Government plans to widen the Dindigul-Sathyamangalam road and the flyover is part of it. Hence, it is likely that only patchwork and maintenance work can be taken up on the National Highways.

The widening of the flyover is a tedious task as it needs land from the National Textile Corporation, acquiring which is a tough job. So instead of  widening the flyover, developing of bypass should be done to reduce the number of vehicles entering the city.
