Good News for MBBS Aspirants from the City as ESIC Medical College to Start MBBS Admission this Year

Employee State Insurance Corporation gets the nod from The Medical Council of India here to function from this academic year. It has got permission for taking 100 MBBS student for this academic year. This was published on the website of Ministry of Health on 3rd June. The council was satisfied after the compliance check. It takes the number of ESIC medical colleges in Tamil Nadu to two. The other ESIC medical college in the State is at KK Nagar in Chennai.

The ESIC medical college got the permission after a detailed inspection of the campus in December by 3 officials from The Medical Council of India. It had suggested few improvements to be done and the officials had a visit again on May 11.

The building was provided at a cost of Rs. 600 crore by the Union Governments Ministry of Labour and it will be run by the State Government according to a Memorandum of Understanding between both the Governments.

Out of 100 seats , 65 seats will be for the students going through the State Govt. counselling , 15 by the Union Government and rest 20 seats for the children’s of ESIC card holders. The classes will commence from August.

An amount of Rs. 40 crore has been sanctioned by Union Government to buy quality equipment for the college.

In respect with CMCH, the institution will have 150 seats as the infrastructure is apt for only this number of students.
